Richard Hobson

Born: Torquay 1965
Age: 57
Education: B.Ed. (Hon) The college of St. Mark and St. John. 1989.
Occupation: Professional Triathlon coach since 1998, Professional Triathlete 1989-97.
Other Sports: Windsurfing (Placed 6th in the Olympic trials 1988)

Sporting Highlights
1989-97: Member Of Great Britain Triathlon Team.
1992: European Championship Team Gold, (Middle Distance).
1992: 4th In European Championships, (Middle Distance).
1993: World Championship Team Gold, (Olympic Distance).
1993: 21st In World Championships, (Olympic Distance).
1994-95: Top Britain in Ironman Distance racing.
1995: Top British finisher in the World Ironman Championships, Hawaii.
1991-97: 5 Times British Champion, (Middle Distance).

Coaching
1998-2001: University of Bath Triathlon coach.
2001-2005: British Triathlon Association, Assistant National performance coach based at Bath University and working in some capacity with all World Class Performance Athletes. Was solely responsible for the performance center at Bath and overlooked all which related to triathlon.

2004 – GB Triathlon Coach for Athens Olympics

2005 to 2022: Based in France – set up a new business running family holidays and training and activity camps in the Charente Maritime region of France – www.livingFrance.org

Also running and Organizing training camps around Europe – in particular at Club La Santa – Lanzarote and continue to coach a number of Age group athletes who need to balance busy lives with their training and racing.

I am still actively very involved in competing at triathlon but now in the age group categories.
