The University of Bath has for many years lead the way for performance sport. It was the first triathlon high performance centre in the Uk and is the home to Team Bath and to Sport Science and Physiological Testing.
It is also where I spent 8 very happy years when I was head coach based there.

So 5 weeks today and we should all be in the sun of Lanzarote.
I can not wait, and my 2 boys are already starting to pack!
The draft programme for the camp is now finished, I say draft as there is always a chance that things will change just a little.
This year to cater for the slightly greater numbers and to accommodate the increasing numbers of athletes who are focusing on Long distance, the programme has been split so to allow you to choose whether you wish to follow the short distance programme or the long distance programme - or you may want to just dabble at both!

25 years of the Volcano Triathlon
I have been running the Volcano triathlon training camp for over 10 years. This year it is set to be bigger and better than ever. With only 1 or 2 more slots available before we hit 60 people and then we will have to start a reserve list. To cater for the larger numbers and the mixed abilities we will have more coaches helping and have a clear split in sessions between Sprint / Olympic distance athletes and long distance athletes, with some sessions crossing over to keep everything a little social!
This year will be a particularly big year as the Volcano Triathlon on the 2nd of May is celebrating its 25th year. To mark this occasion the mini triathlon that we hold a few days prior to the main event will be a celebration of 25 years of Volcano triathlon - so you need to dig something out from your past (or someone else’s) to use during this race - for me it maybe my pink speedo,s! and the nice scott helmet! Just not sure I still have them.
TriLiving has some strong relationships with some great companies that produce market leading, innovative and cool products. These companies are again putting up some fantastic deals for all people on the camp. These deal include big discounts on Snugg Wetsuits, Skinfit clothing, SIS sports drink, Ceepo bikes, Newton shoes, Triathlon Vision sports eye wear.

Ironman is pleased to announce its new licensing deal with Ceepo, a triathlon-focused bicycle company recognized for its innovative designs. The agreement establishes Ceepo as the “Official Bicycle Partner” via a multi-year global licensing deal, with new branded product available beginning January, 2009. Additional models, such as the Ironman “Viper” will be released late spring, with the Ironman “Katana” to follow in Summer.

There is nothing tougher than having your main goal of the year as a late Ironman, everyone else has stopped for the year, the weather and nights have closed in but still some tough training to be done. So fantastic result for Iain In Ironman Arizona, in a time of 11:02:54, finishing 13th out of 135 in his categorie.
Well done Iain, now it is time to have a rest and a few weeks not having to get out in the wet and cold.

Happy birthday Bob.
Bob is one of my original TriLiving athlete, a true inspiration! his achievements to date are just to many to list but 2009 did see him compete in his 1st ironman in a time of 12:04:18. Just awesome.
But now he has just informed me that he is officially an OAP and proud of it, he also told me that he is referred to as an MTB by one of his “lady friends” (Mature Toy Boy!) and this really does sum him up much better.
Here is to been 65 and a whole new age group - how exciting.

Biathle is a sub sport of modern pentathlon invented to create opportunities for training the run and swim parts of pentathlon in real race conditions. It is also seen as a sport in its own right with European and World Championships. Each race consists of a run, swim and run with senior biathletes running 1500m, swimming 200m and finishing with a second 1500m run.
Congratulations Ian for a time of 10.55 and winning the masters B categorie (over 50’s)

While most of us have finished racing for the year there is still one TriLiving athlete out there putting the miles in for his late Ironman race in Arizona on the 23rd November. It is never easy to stay motivated and focused so late in the year especially as the weather and nights are drawing in but Iain has stayed loyal to the cause and is now set to take on his next Challenge. Good luck Iain.
